Boss Rush guide: how to beat all ten bosses

Updated September 28, 2026

Boss Rush is Prism Riot's campaign: ten one-on-one fights, each against a boss with its own twist on the rules. Beat a boss to unlock the next; each win pays 1.8× XP. The twists stack up quickly — by the end you're facing every rule pack at once against a four-card boss hand.

Here is every boss in order, what makes it different and the plan that works against it. The general duel habits from our strategy guide apply throughout: hold wilds, keep a draw card for defence and never break your last card of an energy without a reason.

Bosses 1–5

  • 1. Ember 🔥 — a Chill rival with a full hand. A warm-up: shed your high numbers, practise saving your wilds.
  • 2. Voltra ⚡ — a Sharp rival who starts with only 6 cards, one fewer than you. You're behind from the deal, so play actions early to slow her down: FREEZE and FLIP both give you an extra turn in a duel.
  • 3. Nullwave ◌ — Ruthless, and shields are removed from the deck. Nothing blocks a +2 or +4 here, so stacking is your only defence: hold a draw card whenever Nullwave has three cards or fewer.
  • 4. Mirrorlord ▣ — Ruthless under Mayhem rules: cross-stacking (+4 on +2), 7s swap hands, 0s rotate hands and you draw until you can play. Never swap into a bigger hand — play your 7 when you hold more cards than Mirrorlord, not fewer.
  • 5. Prism Sovereign 👑 — a five-card boss hand, 6-second turns and a Riot Meter that charges twice as fast with three-card bursts. Decide your next card during the boss's turn, and burst as soon as the meter fills: it's the fastest way to catch up.

Bosses 6–10

  • 6. Cinder 🌋 — Eruption rules against a Sharp rival: drawing can erupt 0–4 random cards, and BLAST makes the next player erupt. Avoid drawing at all costs — play any legal card rather than taking an eruption, and save BLAST for when Cinder is low.
  • 7. Umbra 🌑 — Ruthless with the Eclipse pack and six cards. On the dark side FREEZE becomes FREEZE ALL, +2 becomes +5, +4 becomes ROULETTE and SWAP becomes PURGE. Play ECLIPSE yourself when your hand is full of cards that are stronger on the dark side.
  • 8. The Warden ⛓ — the Merciless pack, cross-stacking and a 20-card mercy rule (the usual limit is 25). The Warden wants to bury you, so keep your hand small: PURGE a whole energy when you can and never stay above 12 cards.
  • 9. Glitch ▞ — anything goes (every card plays on every card), 5-second turns, no shields. Matching doesn't matter, so the only question is order: dump your highest cards and actions first and finish on a wild.
  • 10. Apex Prism 💠 — every pack at once (Merciless with a 20-card mercy limit, Eclipse, Eruption, cross-stacking, 7-0), a four-card boss hand and 8-second turns. Attack immediately — Apex only needs four plays to win — and keep one draw card and your FREEZE for its last card.

General boss tactics

  • In a duel, FREEZE and FLIP both mean 'play again'. Chain them to shed two or three cards in a row.
  • Count the boss's hand every turn. When it hits two cards, switch from shedding to blocking: change the energy, hold your draw cards.
  • Timed bosses (Sovereign, Glitch, Apex) punish hesitation more than bad plays. Pick a reasonable card fast.
  • Lost a fight? The boss list keeps your progress; you only replay the boss you lost to.
  • Stuck on the late bosses? Practise the rule pack first: Merciless Duel, Eclipse Duel and Eruption Duel play the same twists one-on-one.
