Calling your last card: the rule and the penalty
Updated September 25, 2026
Every shedding game has a moment of truth: you play your second-last card and have to announce it. Forget, and if someone catches you before the next player moves, you draw a penalty.
Online versions usually call for you automatically. Prism Riot's Last Card Call mode puts the moment back: press LAST CARD in time, and watch your rivals — computer players forget too.
The rule in Prism Riot
- When a play leaves you with exactly one card, you must call LAST CARD.
- You can call early — while holding two cards on your turn — so you're safe the moment you play.
- If you don't call, you're exposed until the next play. Anyone can catch you: you draw two.
- A caught player is safe again once they draw; the call only matters at one card.
- Chill rivals forget often, Ruthless rivals almost never — and Ruthless rivals catch you fast.
Classic penalties
Most printed rules use a two-card penalty and say the catch must happen before the next player begins their turn. Some families use four cards; some let you call only after you play. Prism Riot uses the widely played two-card version and lets you call in advance.
Tips
- Make calling a habit: press LAST CARD as soon as you hold two cards on your turn.
- When a rival goes to one card, look for the ❗ — that's a forgotten call. Tap CATCH before the next play.
- Catching rivals counts for the Gotcha! and Referee badges.
