Attack-style rules: the random card launcher
Updated September 25, 2026
Attack-style editions replace the draw pile with a machine that fires a random number of cards at you — sometimes nothing, sometimes a pile. The fun is the gamble: drawing is no longer a fixed cost.
Prism Riot's Eruption pack recreates that gamble without the machine. Every time you'd draw, the pile erupts a random 0 to 4 cards, and new BLAST cards let you erupt your rivals.
The eruption
- Instead of drawing one card, the pile erupts: 30% nothing, 28% one card, 22% two, 13% three, 7% four.
- That averages about 1.4 cards — slightly more than a normal draw, but with big swings.
- Draw penalties (+2, +4) still draw the exact amount.
BLAST and ALL BLAST
- BLAST (energy card): the next player must erupt before they can do anything else.
- ALL BLAST (wild): choose an energy, then every rival erupts at once.
- A SHIELD blocks a BLAST aimed at you.
Strategy
- Erupt freely when you're stuck — the expected cost is small.
- Save BLAST for a rival with one or two cards.
- ALL BLAST is strongest at a four-player table.
- Volcano Rush adds a double-speed Riot Meter — burst after every eruption.
Frequently asked questions
Can an eruption give zero cards?
Yes, 30% of eruptions launch nothing — and you still pass.
Does BLAST stack?
No. BLAST sets up one eruption for the next player; draw cards are what stack.
